The global risk and escalation of COVID-19 is hitting many industries and small businesses hard, and independent breweries are no exception.
With our Taprooms closing due to new government laws, many breweries have lost a vital stream of income.
We need your support now more than ever, and we are constantly adapting in these uncertain times to make that as easy for craft beer drinkers as possible.
Here are some ways you can help support your local breweries:
Look for IBA's independent beer seal next time you're in the bottle shop. The vast majority of independent beers will have this seal on their packaging.
The vast majority of beer brands in this country are owned by one of two multinational, foreign owned corporations. If you can't see an independent seal anywhere on the packaging, then the beer is most likely owned by one of these two companies.
What if I don't like Craft Beer?
Even if you usually don't like "craft beer", almost every local brewery has a lager (or Pilsner, in our case) in their range to suit your tastes. Purchasing them will help Australian owned companies stay in business and help Australians stay employed.
If you're unsure about who to support that's local (to the Inner West) and independent, in addition to our brewery (Wayward Brewing Company), here's a good starting list for you:
Akasha Brewing Company
Batch Brewing Company
Grifter Brewing Company
Philter Brewing
Sauce Brewing Co.
Wildflower Brewing & Blending
Willie the Boatman
Young Henrys
Yulli's Brews
Taprooms may be closed, but most independent breweries are still offering takeaways to locals. Our Kerbside Pop-up is stationed outside the brewery and open every day from 12-6pm.
A lot of breweries are now offering delivery from their cool rooms to your door.
Our beer is available for delivery via our merch store. Shipping is free, and we're offering next business day delivery to local postcodes (details in the link).
Consider purchasing a voucher for future use at your local brewery's taproom. Most breweries have voucher options for you to buy now and enjoy in post-corona life.
Ours are available to buy from our Kerbside Pop-up and online.
T-shirts, stubby coolers, tote bags, and even dog hoodies - breweries have loads of merch options and most of it is available to buy online. Show your support and buy something new for yourself, your mates, or your four legged friend!

Any support you can give to any of the mentioned breweries is greatly appreciated - the future of local beer is in your hands #keepinglocalalive
